I’m so excited to welcome the awesome Missy Tippens to my site! Missy writes wonderful inspirational stories for Steeple Hill and WOW, check out her gorgeous cover. Doesn’t it just grab you and make you want to curl up and read?! Be sure to check out her Quick Six answers below and her question to all of you. As always, answer the question in the comments section to be eligible to win a copy of her book, His Forever Love.
Plotter or Pantzer? Reformed pantzer who now plots (to save so much revision!).
I like to do lots of planning ahead, but I also like to have room for the story to grow and change.
Historical or Contemporary? For writing, contemporary, definitely. But love to read historical, too.
Football or basketball? Pro football—Atlanta Falcons. College basketball—Duke University.
Email or Letters? Emails. So, so easy. Although I still love to receive snail mail.
Home Made or Store Bought? Store bought. I love to shop!
Candles or Incense? Do essential oil burners count as incense? If so, that’s my choice!
And now my question to all of you…
Paper books or e-books? (And if you do e-books, what reader or program do you use?)Tawny, thanks so much for having me today! This was fun. I’ll be giving away a copy of my new Steeple Hill Love Inspired release, His Forever Love, in a drawing from among those who comment.

Missy Tippens is an award-winning writer and was a finalist in the Romance Writers of America’s Golden Heart Contest. She has a story included in Blessings of Mossy Creek, published by BelleBooks. Her next, His Forever Love, is on the shelves now! It will be followed by A Forever Christmas in November.
Missy loves to hear from readers through her website, www.missytippens.com, or by e-mail.
I like paper books, I like physically having the books in my hands.
Don’t enter me in the contest because I have His Forever Love in my TBR pile. I love the cover, makes me want to go out and have a picnic.
Nicole, thanks so much for getting my book!
I love the cover, too. It’s a prefect likeness to a scene in the book. They did a great job of capturing the moment!
Hi Missy.. Tawny
I absolutely love paperbacks ! BUT it has to be e-books for me. I would never be able to get all my favorite books in paperback in my country. I can still remember the day I discovered my first e-book, I was ecstatic .. and my credit card not the same since LOL. I use Mobipocket reader on my laptop as readers are not really available here yet.
You are right Tawny, that cover makes me want to curl up and read …and have a picnic Nicole LOL
All the best Missy !
I read all the time and although I have read e-books in the past, I much prefer to have a paper copy of the book instead. Curling up on the couch with a hard, angular laptop just does not have the same effect as curling up on the couch with a good book!
I love paper books but if I had an e-reader I might be able to change my mind. I read e-books on Adobe reader on my laptop now and it isn’t the easiest way to read.
Petro,
Thanks for your input! I’ve been curious. I have a friend who got a Kindle and she loves it. It sure would be nice not to have the piles and piles of book like I have now! My husband said he’s afraid we need to build an addition for my books.
Rebekah, I’ve downloaded books to read on my computer, but just have a hard time, too. Of course, I do curl up in the corner of my couch with my laptop all the time. But the thing burns me up, even with a lap tray!
Jill, thanks for your input as well. I may start saving my pennies for a reader. How easy would that be to take to the beach instead of my huge bag of books? Then again, there’s something about sitting under a beach unbrella with a paperback in hand…
I prefer paper backs. For me they are much easier to read. I would have to (and have done it) read them off my computer and it just isn’t comfortable for me.
Paper book, definitely. But ebooks are really interesting. I keep wondering if I’m standing up for tradition…or am I insisting we keep subsidizing buggy whips until this fad of ‘horseless carriages’ blows over.
Missy loves to shop?? Wow, I never would have guessed!
I love writing by scent. Since starting allergy shots, I’ve regain a percentage of my sense of smell. Love, love, love the tarts you melt and sniff. Definitely gets my mind in the mood : )
Fun blog, Tawny!
Thanks for sharing, Missy!
Ellen,
Thanks for stopping by!
You know, I tried the Sony Reader at a conference one time, and it felt just like holding a book. Really cool! I’ve never held a Kindle, though. I imagine it’s similar. If only they weren’t so expensive.
LOL, Mary! You old dinosaur, you.
Hey, Audra! I’m glad the shots are working! I love to have a theme scent for books. I didn’t do it on the last one I wrote, and I missed it.
I’ll have to choose one for the wip!
Thanks for stopping by.
I also meant to say that choosing a scent gives me a reason to hit Bath and Body Works! LOL
Missy
I love the answers
As for me I love paperbacks I don’t have an e-book reader so at the moment I will stick to the paper version and I really do love seeing them on my book shelves an all the colours on the covers.
Have Fun
Helen
Thanks for stopping by, Helen! I love to see full bookshelves, too. Makes me feel like I’m in a bookstore or library.
Hi Missy!!! Welcome and thanks so much for hanging out today – I’m sorry I didn’t make it to the computer sooner but normal crazy turned into stressed out crazy and my day disappeared somehow.
I love the answers and am a huge fan of oil burners too – or the candle burners. My mom makes those cute little wick-less candles for me to burn in mine and they always smell divine.
Your book looks amazing -can you tell us a little bit about it? I’d love to hear the story that goes with that gorgeous cover!!
Tawny, I have days like that all the time! My DSL went out for a while today, and I was spazzing because I’m a guest on 3 blogs today! LOL
Thanks for asking about my story. It’s about unrequited love. The hero had a crush on the heroine when they were growing up. They were best friends and study partners. But right before graduation, when he had finally gotten the nerve to share that he loved her, she showed up with a ring on her finger. As soon as they graduated, he took off for Boston and never looked back. And of course, she was devastated that her best friend deserted her.
I wanted to bring these two back together and write about the nerdy guy finally getting the popular girl.
Here’s the back cover blurb: In Magnolia, Georgia, local legend says that a couple who holds hands around the “forever” tree will have an unending love. Even so, Bill Wellington held Lindsay Jones’s hands around that tree years ago…and then left her behind. He chose the big city, and now he wants to bring his grandmother there. But to his amazement, he finds that Granny has a boyfriend—and a vibrant life. A life that includes Lindsay, Granny’s caregiver. Bill never thought he’d want to come home, yet Magnolia clearly has its charms. As does Lindsay, who makes him long for a second chance at forever love.
I am a paper back gal all the way! I like the feel of that paper in my hand. I am not much on e-books because I have to set at the computer to read them, I don’t have an e-book reader, maybe if I did it would be different. I love to kick back in my recliner with my dear little paper book.
Your books sound like a great read. I really enjoy the love inspired line.
Hi, Missy! Dragging in late today! Thanks for the answers–I always enjoy getting to know authors a little better! As for paper or e-books, although I’m starting to read e-books more (PDF, on the computer), I still prefer a physical book in my hands. I love the space savings and convenience of e-books (at least theoretical–without an e-reader, the portability thing isn’t really a factor), but still enjoy the pleasure of turning pages
And I agree–I love the convenience of e-mail but nothing beats receiving a hand-written letter or card in the (snail) mail! Congrats on His Forever Love–it sounds like a great story!
I still prefer paper books mainly because I don’t have a reader and e-books just aren’t any fun on a computer. I like to snuggle up in a chair or bed and read.
Thanks, Quilt Lady! I’m glad you enjoy the LI line!
Fedora, thanks for stopping by!
Dianna, one of my favorite things to do is snuggle in the corner of our sectional sofa and read! And in the witer, under a nice blanket.
I prefer paper books but I will read ebooks on my computer.
Thanks for taking part, Crystal!
I just drew a name and contacted Tawny. She’ll be announcing it. Thanks, everyone, for answering my question!
Hi,
I read paper books the most. The occasional ebook if I can get it in ms reader. If I had an ereader I might read more ebooks.
