I’m so happy to welcome my dear friend and an awesome author, Stacey Kayne! Nobody does a cowboy like Stacey does (oh my, that might’ve come out wrong, huh?) If you’re a fan of the hot and hunky cowboys, of the western romances or of a really good book – you have to check Stacey’s stories out!!
And also check out her fun Quick Six interview below and be sure to leave a comment to be eligible to win a copy of her fab book, Mountain Wild.
Historical or Contemporary? Historical WESTERNS, and I’m not just trying to sell ponies here, I’m a total die-hard western romance fan. I can dig on a fast contemporary or Scottish historical, even like some paranormal, but nothing appeals to my reader side like a gritty western romance set in rough and rugged terrain, pitting the characters against the elements, the bad guys and their own desires.
Champagne or beer? Depends…is the beer Corona? Do you have any lime? The only thing that can trump an ice-cold, tangy Corona is an extra dry pink champagnePicky, ain’t I?
Blue or white collar hunk? BLUE. I so like to root for the underdog, someone struggling to carve out a better life for himself in a tough and tumble world—someone I can relate with.
Ball cap or Stetson? Guess
![]()
Brown, blue or green eyes? S’long as they’re smiling beneath the brim of that Stetson, color’s not an issue.
Save or Be Saved? Yes, and yes, as per my slogan: Stories of heroic women and the men strong enough to love them.
n the midst of a range war, Garret Daines is dead-set on keeping his ranch from greedy local cattle barons. An attempt on his life during a winter storm lands him in the healing hands of a mountain recluse. He can hardly believe the youthful beauty he discovers hidden beneath her mountain woman attire or the passion unleashed by her tender touch.
When “Mad Mag” pulls the handsome rancher from the snow she has no idea he’ll be the man to thaw her wounded heart. But Maggie is hiding a mess of secrets in her mountain sanctuary, none of which she’s willing to share. Murderous cattlemen threaten their fragile bond and Maggie has to face the fears of her past or risk losing her hope for the future. Garret will defend his wild woman at any cost, but can he convince her their love is worth the risk?
Stacey Kayne has always been a daydreamer. If the comments in her elementary school report cards are any indication, it’s a craft she mastered early on. Having a passion for history and flair for storytelling, she strives to weave fact and fiction into a wild ride that can capture the heart. Stacey lives on a ranch near the Sierra Nevada Mountains with her high school sweetheart turned husband of eighteen years and their two sons.

Great Quick 6! Have to say I agree with (almost) all of them. No beer or champagne for me but give me a margarita and I’m a very happy camper. Have a sexy cowboy deliver it and you’ll see a smile that will probably light the whole darn room!
I’ve been a fan of westerns (especially historical westerns) for more years than I care to admit. They are a sub-genre I can’t imagine ever not loving.
Stacy, will you be in DC next month? If so, I’ll wait to pick up a copy of MOUNTAIN WILD at the book signing. Can’t wait to read it!
~PJ
I love historical westerns, and Stacey is one of my favorite authors! I have read every book that she has written, so I am really looking forward to her new book.
I love westerns too and happy to see there are authors out there that still want to write them. Stacey, your new story sounds great!
I love westerns, nothing better than a hunky cowboy!
Hi Pjpuppymom! Hey now, Margaritas weren’t an option
Have you had cranberry margaritas? One of my faves
Delivered by a sexy cowboy….oooo’yeah
I won’t be in DC–dang it. Under major deadline (new series for 2010) and just remodeled our house (can see pics here: http://petticoatsandpistols.com/2009/06/05/staceys-new-digs/ ). So I’m grounded this year. But I’ll have some perty bookmarks in the goody room. You’ll have to have a margarita for me
THANK YOU, Cheryl!! I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed my westerns. Here’s hoping Garret and Maggie don’t disappoint
Woohoo, Jody! Love to hear that
Westerns will always be my first love and I so hope I can keep finding a home for them
Hi Stacey.. Tawny
I am such a huge fan of hot and hunky cowboys, and if there is a strong woman in there too, I’m hooked.
Jed and Rachell’s story sounds awesome, I will definitely be checking it out Stacey !!
Good luck with the deadline!
LOL, Petro! Your comment made me read the blurb above….’cause the hunky cowboy and spunky heroine are Garret and Maggie—Jed and Rachell are from BRIDE OF SHADOW CANYON. Here’s the blurb for MOUNTAIN WILD:
In the midst of a range war, Garret Daines is dead-set on keeping his ranch from greedy local cattle barons. An attempt on his life during a winter storm lands him in the healing hands of a mountain recluse. He can hardly believe the youthful beauty he discovers hidden beneath her mountain woman attire or the passion unleashed by her tender touch.

Hey Nicole—can’t agree with you more
Or did I read the blurb wrong twice??? Maybe I’m trippin’—coasting on days of a couple hours sleep
Hi Stacey and Tawny
Love the answers Stacey and I too love a great historical western I have read some wonderful ones over the years and who wouldn’t want a cowboy in denim and a stetson. throw in some snow and the need to cuddle up together and keep warm you have won me LOL
Have Fun
Helen
You already know my taste in heroes, Miz Stacey. I absolutely love your cowboys – all of them. Sure wish I had a new one to be reading about. You are definitely the best in what you do. Please send me a new hero to enjoy….(that’s today’s whip.
I have to say I agree with everything Stacey said.. I love stories about cowboys, and it doesn’t matter in which catagory. Stacey’s stories are the best… I can not wait to get the next installment….I have to thank Mrs. Paisley for for telling me about her,I am forever grateful to her for it.Stacey is one of the best…..
Squee!!! I would have tried to get here earlier if I’d known you were going to be here, Stacey!! Very fun answers, and I love LOVE your historical westerns!! I owe a debt of thanks to Tawny for turning me onto your books, too! Oh, and I loved your answer to six–you write that type of heroine perfectly! Tough enough to take care of herself and to sometimes rescue the hero, and yet not so foolish as to turn down help when it’s a good thing or to go barreling off into danger just to prove her independence
No need to enter me–Mountain Wild already has its place on my keeper shelf!
Hi Helen! Lots of snow in MOUNTAIN WILD, and that cowboy is in need of some serious warming
Perfect setting to cool off in July…or not
Paisley–you sweet thing!!! You know I love the crack of your whip
THANK YOU, Kris!! I’m thrilled to hear you’ve enjoyed my westerns. And extra kisses to Paisley and her whip for nudging you my way
Hi Fedora!! Thanks
