~*~*~*~*~~*~*~**~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~

Please join me in welcoming Crystal Kauffman as she celebrates her debut release, THE COMBAT. Crystal is a fabulously fun, talented gal I’ve know for… wow, a lot of years *g* And she’s giving away a copy of her e-book! You know you want a shot at it, right? All you have to do is check out her Quick Six answers below and answer her question in the comments section. She’ll pick a name on Sunday to win!

1. Plotter or Pantzer?
Pantzer. When an idea hits, I run with it, whether I’m ready or not. It may require some backtracking and a lot of editing, but that’s okay. My second favorite thing to do is edit. (Yeah, I’m nuts.)

2. Romantic suspense or Romantic comedy?

Romantic Suspense. I love to be on the edge of my seat. And the best thing is reading a book that makes me keep the lights on after I’ve finished reading it. I’m forever trying to learn the ability to create you-didn’t-see-it-coming twists and spine-tingling turns. It’s harder than it looks.

3. Opera or Nascar?
Ooooo, opera. How dangerously romantic was Phantom of the Opera?

4. Soda or tea?
Both. Totally. Soda is my vice. I love the fizzy bubble, the enamel-rotting bite, the sweet, sugary goodness. But I don’t get it often, because it’s too fattening and I like my enamel. And tea, because I don’t drink coffee. I love my green tea. On a particularly cold, too-early-to-be-up morning, I’m known to utter “God Bless the first woman who ever steeped a tea leaf.” It’s that good. And because it’s such a wonderful discovery it had to have been made by a woman.

5. Back rub, foot rub, or neck massage?
FOOT RUB!!!! The way to my heart is through my feet.

6. Diamond or Pearl?
Diamonds, baby. I love shiny things. I was a blue jay in a past life.

My Question:
Galaxy Quest or Star Trek?

combat

Crystal Kauffman recently celebrated the release of her debut book, The Combat, an urban fantasy about gargoyle warriors who protect humans from vampires. One lucky winner drawn from all comments will receive the ebook in their preferred format. More information about the next two books in the series (for which she is anxiously awaiting word from her editor) can be found at http://www.crystalkauffman.com

  1. Jody F. says:

Definitely Star Trek! I loved Kirk’s haminess, Picard’s suaveness, Janeway’s kick-buttness, and Archer–well I didn’t really care for him since I’d fallen off the ST bandwagon by then.

But J.J. Abrams’ reboot was amazingly good! It made me fall in love with ST all over again. Can’t wait to see where they take it next.

  2. answer=opera, that surprises me. NASCAR keeps me on the edge of my seat, biting my nails. :) Am inspired to pick up a NASCAR book to read this weekend. Thanks Tawny. :P

  3. Nicole S says:

I’m not a big fan of either, but if I had to chose I would pick Star Trek. I’ve never seen Galaxy Quest and I have no clue about it. I have watched Star Trek.

  4. Crystal says:

Nicole, if I were to answer my own question I would have said Galaxy Quest. It’s such a fun, cute movie! Take my word for it, it’s worth the rental–especially if you’re an Alan Rickman fan. :)

    1. Tawny says:

Hmmm, I haven’t seen Galaxy Quest, so I’m gonna have to chime in for Star Trek. I was a total TNG geek and to this day, quote bits from that show LOL.

Crystal, your book sounds fascinating -can you tell us a little more about it?

  5. Dianna says:

I have been a Trekkie since the beginning, I did lose sight of my Trekkieness by the time Archer came along though.

  6. Petro says:

    Hi Crystal . . Tawny :)

Star Trek because I loved it as a child, but listen I really got stuck at the green tea and the “God Bless the first woman who ever steeped a tea leaf.” I didn’t know *G*
Wow Gargoyle warriors and vampires, sounds like a great book Crystal, congrats !! :)

  7. chey says:

    Hi Crystal,

Star Trek. I watched the original Star Trek as a kid. It’s still my favourite.

  8. Both! I’ve always loved Star Trek in all it’s incarnations because of the diverse character opinions and the way the crew(s) all work together to solve problems. And Galaxy Quest has a very special place in my heart because I don’t like to give up either! :-)

  9. Crystal says:

    Tawny,
Since I wasn’t quite comfortable with the ‘vampire as hero’ yet, I decided to make him a villain with a guardian protector who was his opposite. The Guardians are immune to the vampires because they can transform to stone. But vampires grew on me, so they have more positive roles in the second and third books of the series. (Book two has just been contracted with Loose Id) I’m a firm believer that everyone is individual, so there are good vampires, and bad vampires. In the same sense, there are good Guardians and bad Guardians too.

  10. Nicole S says:

I looked up Galaxy Quest and I have seen it LOL I can’t believe I forgot about that movie. I enjoyed it so I have to change my answer to Galaxy Quest because I would rather watch that then Star Trek.

  11. Fedora says:

Hi, Crystal! Star Trek, definitely–either the original or Next Generation. Loved Spock and loved Picard! I’ve heard excellent things about the new movie, but haven’t seen it yet.

Your debut book sounds very intriguing! What time period is it set in? And is it on Earth? How exciting that you’ve got more in the series already planned–I love connected stories!
