Makeovers

Have you ever had a makeover? Are you a fan? I adore makeovers -both because I love playing dressup and because, well, they are just fun! I used to love to play makeup counter when I was a kid – you know, with that chalky eyeshadow and grease pencil lipstick that came with the Barbie makeup head? I’d make up anyone. My friends, my mom, my brothers! Hey, they were pretty!!

Then I got older and did the beauty school thing. Ooooh, the makeup fun I had there! FAB. It was all about experimenting. About 5 years ago, I discovered the MAC counter at my local Macys (and the MAC store in the mall, ooooh) and fell in love. Walk in, sit down, a little fluff and color and voila – a new look! Not all work for me, not all make me feel happy (glittery eye shadow and pale lips together are bad on me. All bad) but its always fun.

Makeovers are something I like so much, it became the theme of my book, Risque Business (on shelves now – OMG its out early!!!) Delaney Conner feels like she’s the invisible woman until she wins a makeover. Like a butterfly trying its new wings, she flies… right into the arms of uber-hunk Nick Angel, who has a few issues with the one area she’s always felt completely confident- her reviews. I had so much fun with this premise and can’t wait to hear how the book works for readres.

In the meantime, I’d love to hear your makeover experiences! C’mon, sharesies.

and to continue the discussion, I’m blogging about Playing Dress Up over at Tote Bags N Blogs today -stop by and comment for a chance to win your own copy of Risque Business.
