Las Vegas - my favorite desert mirage. ~Val Saintsbury

In honor of my vacation week here- I thought I’d share this post on Las Vegas. I love this town! Not for the gambling - I restrict my gambling to my career *g* but for the whole feel. This is like one giant playground, complete with toys, lights and sound. I lived here on and off for years since my parents are based here and love love love to come back to relax. So far I’ve spent every day floating in the pool, every night writing and every moment relaxing. Gotta love it!

How about you? Have you been to Vegas? Are you a fan? If you come what’s your idea of a good time? The shows? The gambling? The lights and fluff? Or, as I spent last night drooling over Jimmy Choos -the shopping???

I love Vegas for the slightly naughty appeal of it all. The history of Vegas is thick with gangsters and dames and dirty deeds done for the right money. I love it at night with all the lights glittering and the entertainments for free like the dancing waters at Bellagio and the volcano and the pirate ship show.

  2. Samantha:

I have never been to Las vegas, but I have heard so many exciting things about it. I would LOVE to go. In fact, the only places I have really been is Minnesota where I was born and raised and Washington, where I now reside with my husband and two kids. Thanks for the bit of history Jill. That is interesting.

LOL on the description, Jill. You’re so right. Vegas has such a colorful history. My stepmom used to do lunch with one of the original… ahem, founders? *g* And this is a town that aims to entertain. Every second could easily be filled, don’t you think? I do love the dancing waters best, though (yes, you’d think I’d be a Pirate fan, but without Johnny, its just not the same).

Samantha, if you ever get a chance, definitely give Vegas a shot. Its so much more than gambling, as Jill so wonderfully pointed out. Its a fun town to bring hubby and kids, with all the roller coasters and shows and fun here. We went to see Cirque du Soliel’s Mystere tonight and took the kids- my 9yo loved it :-)
