Addicting Entertainment
I turned in my revisions for Risque Business late last week and the first thing my kids did was drag me into a new game they’d discovered. Now, as a rule, I’m not a video game player. I don’t have any games on my computer (why give myself any procrastination tools?) and I’ve never been able to master those controllers (did you know some shake when you do things?! OMG I almost dropped it the first time.) But.. the kids wanted mom-time and things had been so crazy with the holidays and revisions and my over-volunteering commitments that I couldn’t say no to the request. So they taught me how to play Viva Pinata.
Now I’m addicted.

What a fun game!!!
Its horrible and hilarious and twisted all at the same time. You need to create a garden to attract various species of the most adorable pinatas. And then they romance, they eat each other, you beat them with a shovel to get candy. Its just… well, wierdly wild. I love it. I’m trying to get through the entire game by the end of this weekend, when I have to dive into my next book.
But… for the first time, I’ve found a game that I KNOW would distract me from writing.
So tell me, do you play video games? On the PC or on platforms like xBox, etc? Whats your favorite and PLEASE - how do you keep it from being an addiction?

We mostly play online. My fav is Bubble Shooter, where you have to pop the different colored bubbles before they multiply and hit the bottom. It’s reminiscent of Tetris and Dr. Mario.
The best advice I can give you is to set a timer and play until it goes off. The trick is forcing yourself to stop. *g* Don’t worry, though. Once the newness wears off, you’ll have more control and it won’t be as addicting.

I have to tell you I don’t usually play games on the computers either it takes up way to much time and I don’t get the rest of the things done at home that I should be doing. But I bought a Web Kinz animal for my niece and I thought I better try this one out before I give it to her. They have a virtual world and it is really fun there are rooms you have for them and you have to feed them and give them baths and go to school and work and you get points for all of it. I have 4 animals now and I can’t seem to get away from it. You need to go everday to feed them and if you don’t they could die or get real sick. I have so much fun with them there are games you can play to to get more points so you can buy food and things for the house. But it is one thing I should have not gotten into because now I can’t put it away. All because the nieces birthday which isn’t until the 31st but you know what I will know just how to show her how to do it really well now. LOL So if you figure out a way to have me stop playing let me know.

Hmmm… I’m no help LOL. My daughter got 2 WebKinz for Christmas, and at bedtime has this total freaked out “I forgot to feed them, go feed them for me” moment. I spend mor time with those than I do here on my blog LOL.
Worse, though, is the Build A Bear world. OMG it sucks you in!
So… after the 31st, you’ll have to get your own WebKins, huh?
