Monday’s Quote
Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow.” ~~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Like many of Ralph Waldo Emerson’s quotes, I love this one. Especially in light of my current mantra (stolen from awesome Pocket author, Karin Tabke - whose book I’ll be giving away this week!) ‘Dig Deeper’. Everything we do, every story we write, get easier with practice. The trick is to avoid complacency, I think. To always dig deeper and find the heart, the soul of what you’re doing.
What have you mastered that you feel really comfortable doing, that could use a little depper digging?

I’ve discovered I can finish a book. Write a beginning, middle, and The End. Now I need to dig deeper and torture my characters before they get their ‘happily ever after’. I need to learn to be a ruthless writer. hahahahaha

I’ve been comfortable in my publishing “career.” For awhile I had manuscripts backlogged. Now those are all gone and I have to write something new. I have to dig deeper within myself to be motivated to write the stories running through my head.

Good luck on the ruthlessness *g*
Michelle, HI
Isn’t that a fun, scary place when you’re ready to depend on your Muse again for new stuff. I love it, but its still scary LOL. Congrats on pushing yourself to dig deeper!
