Pirates… YUM

Pirates of the Caribbean– At Worlds End is hitting theaters! and… OMG in a half hour I’m seeing it (yes, before the general public… I have connections *tee hee hee*)

I’m SO excited. I love, adore, worship Johnny Depp and cannot WAIT to see this movie. And better yet, to see if they redeem the characters that I was SO pissed at in the end of Dead Man’s Chest.

I figure if it rocks (and how can it not, as long as there isn’t any more icky betrayal crap that had me screaming at the screen last time) I’ll see it at least a half-dozen times by the end of the weekend. If it drives me nuts, I’ll only see it three :rolleyes_tb:

SPOILERS ENSUE…READ NO FURTHER IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW…

I didn’t like the ending of #2 either, but I didn’t quite like how things ended for Elizabeth at the end of #3 either. Up until that point I lurrrved #3 (and thought of you, Tawny, when Depp had his shirt off).

While that last scene with Elizabeth and Will was incredibly romantic, it also left me thinking of the “women wait, men have work to do” cliche. Will is now death’s ferryman, Jack and Barbossa will continue to wrangle over the Black Pearl… and what will happen for Elizabeth? Will she continue to captain Sao Feng’s ship?

At first I thought Davy Jones’ heart had to stay on land and so then also would Will’s, but then Beckett was transporting it on water, so perhaps there’s more in store for Elizabeth than just waiting around for Will to come around every 10 years. It would be out of character for her to do simply wait for him, so I can only hope that we’ll see her play an active role in the next installment. The way Sao Feng kept calling her Calypso, I thought maybe Elizabeth would fill that role like Will is as captain of the Flying Dutchman.

Oh, and they killed off Norington! That’s just not fair!
