Jammies are my friend
So, here’s my theory. If I’m ever up for a RITA, I’m wearing my pajamas to the awards ceremony.
Why? Because every bit of good news I’ve had, writing-wise, seems to have come while I’m in jammies. Now, thats not to say I lounge around all day in them…c’mon :rolleyes_ee: I’m not that bad.
But all the great news - Sales, Golden Heart finals, My current agents offer (should have know since I was dressed for the first agent’s offer it wouldn’t work out — hindsight), it all came while I was still in jammies. I’ve actually blogged about this before.
I’m sure part of that is time differences. The publishing world operates on East Coast time, I operate on Tawny time (take Pacific time, and stay up till 2am writing). But I think there’s more to it than just time :question_ee:
My recent call came while I was–yes–in my jammies. Since I work from home 2-4 days a month, this was one of those workdays. Usually by the time the call came in, I’d be dressed, made up, hair done, all that. But I’d had a client call that morning letting me know she was running behind - so while I was made up and my hair was done, I’d stopped to chit chat with my CP, Beth, before I got dressed. Not business as usual… which is why I’m sure there is some divine force somewhere, insisting that I be relaxed for all super career news, like a two book sale.
So… the RITA’s. As much as I hate to admit it, my jammies lean toward comfy. Flannel, snarky sayings on tees, big baggy warmth. How do you think that’d look with a room full of glitz and glam?

Dies it count if you upgrade to a red silk nightie and some of those 40’s-era fluffy high heeled slippers? Add some diamond earrings and you’ll fit right in.
